Coventry Association Suspends Junior Firefighter Program After Sexual Assault Allegations

One day after the former South Coventry fire chief and a lieutenant in the department were arrested on child sex abuse charges,   the Coventry Volunteer Fire Association  has issued a statement on the matter.  And the Association says it has temporarily suspended the junior firefighting program in order to review related policies and procedures.

Coventry police allege that teens in the town’s nationally-recognized junior firefighting program were the victims of second-degree sexual assault by former chief Joseph Carilli and Lieutenant Joe Fragoso.
