185,000 Without Power In Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ National Grid says more than 185,000 customers have lost power in Rhode Island during a massive snowstorm, and they’re advising residents to be prepared for outages that could last for days.

The utility reports most of the outages early Saturday were in Washington County. Conditions aren’t expected to improve until later Saturday, and the utility has brought in hundreds of extra crews to respond to downed lines and restore power.

The utility is reminding people to stay clear of downed trees and power lines.
