Governor Dannel Malloy has ordered a travel ban, closing roads in Connecticut starting at 4 pm.
The governor’s office announced that the order bans all motor vehicle traffic on highways except emergency response and recovery vehicles, public safety vehicles, and any vehicle carrying essential personnel or supplies.
“It will essentially ask people not to drive on the roads unless it is essential,” said state Department of Transportation Storm Monitor Jeff Adams.
Mayor Mark Boughton tweeted that after the state’s ban goes into effect, the city of Danbury would order its local roads closed as of 5 pm.
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick already ordered his state’s roads closed at 4 pm.
