Fire Extinguished In Hartford Public Works Garage

A fire broke out on a truck at a Hartford Public Works garage this afternoon. Hartford Fire Department Captain James McLoughlin says a fire truck went to the garage shortly after 2 pm.

“First units arrived and reported smoke coming from a public works garage, and a truck on fire inside the garage,” McLoughlin said.

The flames were extinguished by sprinklers in the building, and hose used by firefighters.

The truck is similar to a dump truck with an attachment used to collect pieces of furniture.

McLoughlin says the fire did NOT effect snow plowing efforts.

The cause of the fire was not known.
