Six Arrested For Sex-Related Computer Crimes

Troopers assigned to the Computer Crimes Investigation Unit have made several arrests of subjects who have been the target of criminal investigations. Each case was initiated by Troopers after developing information that led to investigators to obtain search warrants for evidence in each case. Troopers then continued each separate criminal investigation. Troopers submitted an arrest warrant application in each separate case to Superior Court for the arrest of each accused. The arrest warrants were issued and the subjects were taken into custody processed and assigned court dates. See summary below.

Arrested: Joseph DosSantos (dob 11/22/71)

Charges:
Criminal attempt at Impairing the Morals of a Minor, in violation of CGS 53a-49/53-21 (two counts);
Criminal attempt at Enticement of a Minor, in violation of C.G.S. 53a-49/53a-90a

The Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit concluded an investigation of a 41- year old man who had used a fake profile on the Internet to arrange a meeting for sex with a perceived minor aged girl. A search warrant was obtained for the search and seizure of electronic items at DosSantos’ residence to find additional evidence of this crime and other potential victims. DosSantos admitted to using the internet to entice female minors and of using pictures of a friend to share with young girls.

DosSantos posted a $50,000 bond and is now scheduled to appear at GA18 on Monday 2/18/13.

C.G.S. – 53a-196d Possession of Child Pornography 1st degree

That during the months August – November 2011, the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit was involved in an investigation into possession and distribution of Child Pornography through the use of internet file sharing networks. That Hague turned himself in to State Police Barracks, Troop E, Montville, on 02/04/2013 @ approximately 1100 hrs where he was arrested and processed according to department policy and procedure. Hague posted a $50,000 court set surety bond from Statewide Bail Bonds and is scheduled to be arraigned in New London Superior Court on Wednesday 02/20/2013 at G.A. 10.

Charges: Possession of Child Pornography in the First Degree, 53a-196d

In July of 2012, the Connecticut State Police Computer Crime Unit initiated an investigation into the sharing of child pornography over the Internet. Subsequent investigation traced the Internet activity to a residence located at 437 Pumpkin Hill Road, Ledyard, CT. In October of 2012, the Computer Crime Unit and the Ledyard Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at 437 Pumpkin Hill Road, Ledyard, CT. The search of the residence yielded several items of evidentiary value. Troopers conducted an investigative preview of the seized items and located image and video files of suspected child pornography. On February 5, 2013, Bacon was arrested on an active arrest warrant issued by GA 10 New London Superior Court. He was charged with Possession of Child Pornography in the First Degree in violation of section 53a-196d of the Connecticut General Statutes. Bacon was held on a court set $100,000 bond and was transported to GA 10 New London Superior Court for arraignment.

On 02/05/13, members of the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit served an arrest warrant for the accused and charged him with the above listed crimes. The investigation against the accused was started in October of 2012 after videos of suspected child pornography were discovered as being shared from an Internet account assigned to the accused’s residence. In November of 2012, members of the CT State Police and members of the Avon Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at the accused’s residence and seized evidence related to the investigation. A preview of the evidence obtained as a result of the search warrant was conducted and videos of suspected child pornography were located. Vincente was held on a $300,000 bond and was presented at GA14 in Hartford on the same day.

Possession of Child Pornography in the third degree 53a-196f

On 02/05/13, members of the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit served an arrest warrant for the accused and charged him with the above listed crimes. The investigation against the accused was started in May of 2012 after videos of suspected child pornography were discovered as being shared from an Internet account assigned to the accused’s residence. In September of 2012, members of the CT State Police and members of the West Haven Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at the accused’s residence and seized evidence relating to the investigation. A preview of the evidence obtained as a result of the search warrant was conducted and evidence of the alleged crime(s) was located. He was released on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at GA22 in Milford on 02/19/13.

That during the months December 2012 – February 2013, the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit was involved in an investigation into possession and distribution of Child Pornography through the use of internet file sharing networks. That along with the Manchester Police Department and the Enfield Police Department, a suspect was identified as Steven Anthony Cerasoli (d.o.b. 07/08/1956). That during a search and seizure warrant Cerasoli admitted to using internet file sharing networks and searching for pornography. Cerasoli also admitted to keeping handwritten logs and notes of websites which contained child pornographic images. That the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) positively identified child victim images which Cerasoli had been sharing using his internet connection and his computer system. That on 02/05/2013 at approximately 1430 hrs, Steven Anthony Cerasoli (d.o.b. 07/08/1956, CTOP# 192990418) was located at his residence of: 347 Keeney Street, Manchester CT and was taken into custody based on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant. The AW listed C.G.S. violations of: 53a-196c Importation of Child Pornography and 53a-196b Promoting a Minor in an Obscene Performance. This arrest was in regards to CFS-12-0067288 for which the case trooper is Trooper Rosenberg #952, in conjunction with a joint investigation between the CT State Police and the Manchester Police Department. That Cerasoli was processed and was released after posting a $50,000 surety bond set by the court. Cerasoli was released at approximately 1530 hrs with an arraignment court date of 02/19/2013 at G.A. #12 Manchester Superior Court.
