Four-Year Old Thousand Dollar Theft Solved

An arrest has been made in the theft of more than $40,000 in cash from the Wethersfield Department of Motor Vehicles counter in 2008.

Polish immigrant Zbigniew Malecki was at the DMV with the cash in a bag as he tried to register his vehicle when he left it there, walked away, went back for it and the cash was stolen.

Last week, more than four years later, the Hartford Courant reports East Hartford man Edgardo Casas, 55, was arrested and charged with first-degree larceny in the case.
