NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — Children from Newtown who recently recorded a version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” will be singing during the Grammy Awards.

Sabrina Post, who directs the Newtown Music Project, says American Idol host Ryan Seacrest will be flying to Connecticut to do a live segment with the children on Sunday’s broadcast.

Post says a pre-recorded version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” will be shown, but the children will also be singing live Carly Rae Jepson’s song, “Call Me Maybe.”

Post says the kids recorded “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” because they wanted to help the town heal from the tragedy.

The proceeds from the download of the single benefit the Newtown Youth Academy, a non-profit sports center that provided free programs to Newtown children in the wake of the shooting.
