Philadelphia (CBS) — The Patriots, Giants, or Jets may not be taking home any rings this year, but Pats fan Jamie “The Bear” McDonald is.

The 37-year-old McDonald is from Connecticut and represented Boston/New England at Wing Bowl XXI in Philadelphia, and beat out competitive eaters from Dallas, New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C.

McDonald, a three-year Navy Veteran who began competitively eating a year ago, weighs in at a sleek 215 pounds, has biceps that fill the sleeves of his Tom Brady Patriots’ jersey, and benches 425 pounds, beat out three-time champion Jon Squibb.

McDonald inhaled a total of 287 wings to Squibb’s 282 in three rounds that totaled 31 minutes.

As expected, boos rained down on the “outsiders” from New York, Dallas, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and on McDonald’s Boston/New England contingent.

“You know, this wasn’t necessarily as intimidating as I thought, but the final result was a lot closer than I thought it would be,” McDonald told CBS Philly. “I do take this seriously and I did feel myself getting stronger. This was a great event.”
