NOTE:  As of about 1:30,  the reservoirs had reopened for recreation.

The Metropolitan District Commission is reporting the closure of two of its reservoirs today.

MDC says the West Hartford Reservoir at 1420 Farmington Avenue and Reservoir No. 6 off Route 44/Albany Avenue in Bloomfield have been closed due to heavy tree damage from the overnight storms.

MDC crews are working to clear the areas of fallen limbs and debris and will continue to assess the reservoirs’ condition before a decision is made to reopen them.

In a statement, MDC says the action is necessary to ensure safety  and security to all recreational users.
