Five teenagers face charges after Southington police learned that handguns had been stolen from a locked closet at a private home and distributed among the group.
Police say they got with a tip from parents who found a gun in their son’s room. The subsequent investigation found that four handguns had been stolen from a closet at a private home. The owner had not even noticed they were missing.
Police say the weapons had been distributed among members of the group. They were able to recover all four, plus nearly 100 rounds of ammunition.
Two 17-year-olds who were not identified were arrested. In addition, Brooke Palmer and Perry Sharp of Southington and Jeremy Reilly of New Britain, all age 18, were arrested on various larceny, conspiracy and firearms charges.
