Suspect Arrested After Leading Police On Chase, Ramming Cruisers, Jumping Into Park River

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Police say they arrested a man in connection with a robbery in Vernon after he led officers on a car chase into Hartford and rammed two police cruisers before having to be rescued from an icy river while trying to run away.

Police told WFSB-TV  that the man robbed a CVS on Route 83 early Wednesday morning and led police on a pursuit through several towns into Hartford.

Officers say the suspect rammed a Hartford police cruiser and a state trooper’s vehicle, then fled on foot. Police say the man jumped over a fence off Flatbush Avenue and fell down an mbankment into the Park River. Firefighters were called to the scene to rescue him.

The man’s name hasn’t been released yet.

None of the officers was injured.
