SUFFIELD, Conn. (AP) _ The Connecticut Water Co. is urging nearly 1,000 customers in Suffield to boil their tap water because of a water main break.

The piping broke early Wednesday morning near the intersection of routes 190 and 159 and left the water system with little or no pressure in some areas.

Water company officials say they can’t ensure that bacteria won’t enter the system when the pressure is low.

The company is advising customers to boil their tap water for at least one minute before using it to drink, make food or brush teeth.

Repair crews are working to fix the broken piping.

The company has posted a list of affected streets on its website,
