The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the deadline to register for Superstorm Sandy disaster assistance from January 28 to February 12.

So far more than 37 million dollars in federal disaster assistance has been approved to help Connecticut residents with disaster related expenses.More than 12 thousand residents in Middlesex,new Haven,new London and Fairfield counties, the Mashentucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribal Nation have registered for federal disaster assistance.

More than 10.7 million dollars has been approved for housing assistance , including short-term rental assistance and home repair costs.Over 849 thousand dollars has been approved for other essential disaster-related needs, such as medical and dental expenses and lost personal possessions.More than 26.4 million dollars in Small Business Administration loans have been approved.
