Cincinnnati Wide Receivers Coach Named UConn Offensive Coordinator

The University of Connecticut has named a new offensive coordinator for the Huskies football team.  T.J. Weist is a 25-year coaching veteran who most recently served as wide receivers coach at Cincinnati.

Weist is coming off back to back Bowl wins at Cincinnati in which his offense averaged forty points a game. He told a reporters’ conference call UConn fans won’t be bored by his offense,  “I think you can expect from us a very physical offense,  okay,  but to me I think you could say an exciting offense,  because I think we’re going to try to put our players in the best position to make plays.”

Weist help lead Cincinnati to a 10-3 record in 2012 and a 48-34 victory over Duke in the Belk Bowl.

A native of Bay City, Mich., Weist was a wide receiver at Alabama from 1985-87, taking part in three postseason bowl games, and earned a letter as a senior.

He served as a grad assistant at Alabama working with wide receivers in 1988-89,  then worked at Michigan, Southern Illinois, Tulsa, Indiana and Western Kentucky before going to Cincinnati in 2010.
