Police seized $134,000 as part of an investigation into the alleged sale of drugs including oxycodone.

Investigators say Kelly Smith had been selling prescription drugs illegally from her home in Stratford.  She and her husband own a business in Bridgeport, and police say they had been the target of past drug investigations.

Police say they went undercover, to buy drugs from the house.  On Thursday, they searched the Sunnybank Avenue house.

“During the search, about $40,000 was found inside the house stashed in various locations: $12,288 in a pair of men’s jeans in a bedroom; $21,000 in a basement safe; $2,000 in a pair of men’s shoes;  $305 in a child’s coat; $6,270 in a pair of women’s shoes,” Bridgeport Police said in a press release. Ninety-two thousand dollars was discovered in a safe deposit box.

In addition to oxycodone, methadone and suboxone was also discovered.  Methadone and suboxone are used to treat addiction to treat drugs like heroin.  Oxycodone is a sometimes-addictive painkiller.

Smith is due in court January 29 on charges of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, failure to keep narcotics in the original container, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
