PUTNAM, Conn. (AP) _ Firefighters in Putnam say four people were injured in an early morning fire at a multifamily home.

Crews from several fire departments responded to the home on Prospect Street shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say the home’s roof was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Four residents were brought to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. Their names and conditions haven’t been released.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Officials with the state fire marshal’s office have been called to the scene.
