Pratt and Whitney has announced another round of layoffs.
Pratt says 350 salaried workers company-wide are being laid off, effective immediately. Of those, 200 of the jobs are in Connecticut, affecting both the East Hartford and Middletown operations .
The company says this round of layoffs does not affect hourly employees. The statement from Pratt says it’s part of the company’s efforts to keep its cost structure competitive.
The company says it must take steps to manage costs while investing in new programs in order to insure its long-term prospects.
