New Britain Police have arrested a 21 year old city man on a charge of hindering prosecution in the April 13,2012 murder of Michael Cruz at North Street and Clark Street.Wilbert Lopez Junior turned himself in once he learned of the warrant for his arrest.
Police have also obtained a warrant for the arrest of 23 year old Luis Velez of New Britain, charging him with Murder,Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Use of a Firearm.He is incarcerated on unrelated charges and will be arrested January 25, when he is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court. The warrant has a 2 million dollar bond and it has been sealed.
The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.
