Man Dead, Officer Stable After Norwich Standoff

A man who held state and Norwich police at bay for nearly 12 hours has been found in an apartment, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The drama began Monday afternoon a little before three p.m.  Norwich officers were called to the Cedar Glen Apartments on a report of a suicidal man.

Upon arrival, police were fired upon by 30-year-old Jason Razzino.  Officer Jonathan Ley sustained several gunshot wounds and was subsequently airlifted to Yale new Haven Hospital.  He is in serious but stable condition.

When they entered the home early this morning, police found Razzino’s body in a bathroom.  State and Norwich police, along with the state’s attorney’s office, are investigating.
