Marshall Resigns As UConn Hockey Coach

STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ The University of Connecticut says Bruce Marshall has resigned as coach of the men’s ice hockey team.

Marshall, the coach with the most wins in program history, had been on medical leave of absence since November. He said he decided during his time away from the program that it was in the best interests of the program and his family for him to resign.

Assistant Dave Berard will continue to serve as the team’s coach for the remainder of the season.

Marshall was in his 25th season as head coach. He had 337 career wins and led UConn to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in 2000.

UConn says it will begin a national search for a new head coach at the end of the season.
