UConn’s Sandy Hook Scholarship Fund Reaches Nearly $500,000

The University of Connecticut says since starting its Sandy Hook School Memorial Scholarship fund a week ago,  they’ve raised nearly half a million dollars from about three-thousand donors around the country.

Money from the scholarship fund is designated to help support the cost of college for brothers and sisters of those killed in the attack,  dependents of adults who were killed,  or current Sandy Hook Elementary School students accepted to attend UConn.

UConn says contributors can make a donation by texting 50555 with “uconn newtown,”  and charges will appear on the wireless bill or be deducted from the pre-paid balance.  Universary alumni are asked to includ their name and graduation year.

It’s also possible to make a gift at the online site: http://www.friends.uconn.edu/sandyhook.

Checks can be mailed to the UConn Foundation, 2390 Alumni Drive,  Unit 3206,  Storrs CT 06269-3206.  Note on the check that the contribution is for the “Sandy Hook School Memorial Scholarship Fund.
