Cops: Woman Tried To Smuggle Drugs Into N.Y. Prison

ATTICA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 36-year-old western New York woman has been charged with attempting to smuggle drugs into Attica state prison.

State police say Yomarie Cosme of Rochester was arrested on Dec. 1 after she was caught trying to smuggle multiple balloon packages of heroin and marijuana to a prisoner during an inmate visitation at Attica Correctional Facility in Wyoming County.

Officials say she has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband.

Cosme was released from the county jail after posting $5,000. It couldn’t immediately be determined if she had a lawyer.
