Shot Fired In Task Force Pursuit Of Suspect

Hartford police say a suspect is in custody  after a police pursuit through Hartford and East Hartford which included a brief lockdown of two schools after shots were fired in the chase.

Police say their pursuit of 33-year-old Jose Diaz of New Britain,  also known as Jose Rodriguez, began at Columbus Boulevard and Sheldon Street, extended into East Hartford,  and concluded in an apartment building at Bond Street and Wethersfield Avenue at about noon Tuesday.

Police say a Corrections Officer taking part in the federal task force fired his weapon in the course of the pursuit.  The Hartford State’s Attorney and the Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions are investigating.
