Connecticut State Police concluded a busy Thanksgiving holiday enforcement detail at midnight.
Lieutenant Paul Vance said they recorded three fatalities among the over 400 accidents investigated between last Wednesday and midnight Sunday. Fifty-nine were injured, Vance said.
In addition, troopers arrested 62 for charges of driving under the influence. Over 1600 were cited for speeding, 85 for not wearing their seatbelts, and over 3000 for other infractions like cell phone use, failure to signal, and following too close.
Vance said state police have similar enforcement operations planned throughout the holidays. He said they use federal dollars to help supplement the existing holiday patrol force.
