Danbury police say three suspects have been arrested in the attempted holdup of an armored truck. Police say one of the suspects in the Sept. 27 attempted robbery of a Garda armored truck in the parking lot of the Chili’s restaurant on Newtown Road wore a uniform from the armored car company.
The robbery did not succeed, and the truck’s crew was able to give police a good description of the two suspects and their vehicles. Police used that information to link the attempt to a similar incident in Bridgeport a month earlier. A suspect in that case led them to two Garda employees, including one who knew about the truck route which included the Danbury Chili’s.
The investigation led to three arrest warrants issued earlier this week, and to the arrest of two Bridgeport men and a Fairfield man on charges of conspiracy and attempted larcemy. The three identified as 28-year-old Brandon Jordan of Bridgeport, Steven Wright of Fairfield and Andre Williams of Bridgeport. All are age 28. Bond for Wright and Williams was set at $200,000; for Jordan, at $250,000.
Police would say only that two of the men arrested were Garda employees.
