NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Antrel Rolle has a message for Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green: Duck.

The outspoken Giants safety insisted Thursday he wasn’t bothered by Green, who earlier told WFAN’s Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton that New York’s defense has “a lot of holes.”

“Honestly, I don’t give a flying f— about what he says, man,” Rolle said at the Giants’ practice facility. “That’s just the reality of it. I could really care less. It don’t matter to me.”

But Rolle leveled a stern warning to the Bengals’ top wideout ahead of their Week 10 matchup in Cincinnati.

“I’ll talk with my pads come Sunday,” said Rolle. “That’s how I approach the game. If he sees me, he better duck. That’s it. … I’m a deep safety. I’m going to play my responsibility. If I get a chance, I’m coming across.”

Green was quick to praise the Giants’ defensive line, though he gave the slumping club some bulletin board material at a time when they need it most. And like most tacked-on fodder, it contained a grain of truth.

In this case, maybe quite a few grains.

The explosive Green, with 735 yards and eight touchdowns on the season, will be going up against a New York defense ranked No. 25 in total yards allowed per game. The Giants, coming off a 24-20 loss to Pittsburgh, have allowed 38 passing plays of 20 yards or more.

“Have we given up plays? Yeah, we’ve given up plays,” Rolle said. “So I can definitely see why he says that. At the same time, we’re winning games. I think every defense has holes in it. If he sees holes, hopefully he’ll find them.”

And then?

Rolle also touched on head coach Tom Coughlin, who said the Giants’ defense played “soft” at times against the run-happy Steelers.

“That’s what the head man saw. … That’s what we saw on film,” Rolle said, according to the New York Post. “I’m not calling our defense ‘soft,’ but we didn’t stop the run. I’m a very fair guy — if I see it that way, that’s the way I call it. We must get better. We must get tougher. We must be more physical. It definitely wasn’t a Giants performance.”
