The university of Connecticut is planning to move the Greater Hartford branch campus from West Hartford, to downtown Hartford.
UConn spokesperson Stephanie Reitz says the school is NOT ready to say exactly where it will move.
“We should know in the next several weeks, exactly where we may be looking to move those operations,” Reitz said. “If everything is successful with those negotiations, we would probably be moved within a year.”
University officials say the West Hartford campus would need expensive repairs and upgrades in coming years, if the school remains there.
The West Hartford location is expected to close.
Reitz says the move to the city would give students an opportunity to work with city residents on programs that are part of their course of study, like kindergarten through high school education, and social work.
