Train Collides With Vehicle in Beacon Falls

A 59-year-old man survived a motor vehicle crash with a train in Beacon Falls this afternoon.

Metro North spokesperson Marjorie Anders says the man was taken to the hospital.

“This was at the station parking lot at Beacon Falls,” Anders said.  “Somehow the driver either backed up or went forward, and got on the tracks.”

The thirty people on the train were not injured.  They continued on their trip by bus, as did a train passengers moving in the other direction, on the single-track line between Waterbury and Bridgeport.

Train service on the Waterbury line has now returned to normal.
