SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) — A South Windsor man is accused of stealing several 800-pound batteries and selling them for scrap.

According to the Hartford Courant, authorities say Matthew Crowley, 29, stole 11 800-pound batteries from Nuway Tobacco last month and sold them for scrap.

Crowley reportedly made $1,800 selling the batteries. Police found receipts from a local scrap yard during their investigation.

South Windsor authorities said in a press release that Crowley admitted to stealing the batteries and was arrested Wednesday for the incident.

Crowley was charged with larceny in the fourth degree and was released on a $2,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Nov. 1.
