NEW YORK (AP) _ Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter has had surgery to
repair a broken left ankle.
Dr. Robert Anderson operated Saturday in Charlotte, N.C. The
Yankees said complete recovery for their 38-year-old captain is
expected to take four-to-five months.
Jeter was injured Oct. 13 in the 12th inning of the AL
championship series against Detroit while trying to field a
grounder. The Tigers went on to sweep the Yankees.
