NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Occupy New Haven activists say they may be gone, but they shouldn’t be forgotten.

Protesters are celebrating a year after they pitched tents on New Haven’s Green and six months after they were forced out.

Activist Danielle DiGirolamo told the New Haven Register that “we’re not dead, we’re still here.”

Activists say the group has been helping people prevent foreclosures, homelessness and getting involved in the presidential election.

Occupy New Haven gathered on Sunday and will continue to meet Sundays and Wednesdays.

The protesters were among the last remaining “occupy” encampments in the United States when they were evicted by police in April. New Haven spent several thousand dollars to repair a portion of the Green damaged by the protesters.
