HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Hartford Public Schools Superintendent Christina Kishimoto says she will not seek a bonus for her performance over the past year.

Saturday’s announcement ends a simmering with the school board whose evaluation gave her a 56 percent rating last month, and an announcement that Kishimoto would not receive a bonus this year.

Her attorney had previously demanded that the school board pay Kishimoto at least part of annual bonus worth up to $30,000, arguing that she had met some of the performance goals.
ishimoto, however, said in a statement released Saturday that the pursuit of a bonus is “an unnecessary distraction” _ even though she is deeply concerned about the way the performance review was conducted, communicated and shared with the public.
She says she looks forward to working closer with the board and enhance student achievement.
