BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (AP) — Prosecutors say a home health aide has admitted stealing $329,000 from an 82-year-old legally-blind woman from upstate New York in her care.

Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy III says 49-year-old Michele Rose of Saratoga Springs pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree grand larceny.

She was charged after a relative found discrepancies in the older woman’s accounts and contacted police. Investigators say the money was stolen from the Wilton woman through phone transfers, personal checks and credit card charges over past five years.

Under the plea bargain, Rose must pay restitution and is expected to be sentenced Dec. 4 to 3 to 9 years in state prison.
