A short-lived scare at Bradley International Airport this morning when a smoke condition led to alarms and a recorded message alerting everyone to evacuate. But the all-clear sounded within about ten minutes.
Bradley spokesman John Wallace says a restaurant in the main food court burned biscuits, and a problem with the ductwork meant the smoke was not properly expelled. He says the airport was in something of a mid-morning lull when the message and flashing lights went off at about 9:15 a.m.
Wallace says there actually was no evacuation: after the alarm, everyone was advised to stand by while the situation was checked. There was no effect on flight operations.
