Arrest In Senior Carjacking

New Britain Police say they have solved the carjacking of an older woman in New Britain.

Maryann Skwiot is charged with carjacking, larceny, assault, and threatening.

She was spotted by a New Britain sergeant on Monday, who followed her into Newington, where she was arrested on Fenn Road.

On Saturday, an older woman driving a Dodge Caravan was allegedly approached by the 48-year-old Kensington resident on Stanley Street.

Police say the younger woman claimed to have been pushed into the pond in Stanley Quarter Park by her husband, and asked for help.

But when the younger woman got into the vehicle, police say she pushed the elderly driver out, injuring her.

Skwiot also faces drug charges.
