Patients with expired or un-needed medications can drop them off today at police departments and other agencies around the state and around the country . The Drug Enforcement Administration coordinates the program, to make sure that medications don’t end up in the water supply, or in the hands of children or someone who might abuse or misuse them.
This is fourth drug take-back organized by the DEA, which says more than a million and a half pounds of medication have been removed from circulation because of the program.
Pills and capsules, ointments and inhalers can be safely disposed of at various local agencies from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
