Hamden Woman Held In Fatal Stabbing

A Hamden woman has been charged with murder after police found the man she lived with suffering from a stab wound to the chest Saturday afternoon. Police were called to 233 Goodrich Street around 3:10 p.m. Saturday and found 44-year-old Lavern Brown. Brown was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, and died during surgery.

Officers began a search and located 51-year-old Rita Renee Johnson, who lived with Brown at 233 Goodrich Street, Hamden. Johnson was taken into custody and charged with murder. She is being held on $500,000 bond and will appear in court on Monday.

Police say an argument between Johnson and Brown may have led to the stabbing.
