Body Found In Bozrah

State Police say they got a call shortly before 7 this morning about the discovery of a body in Bozrah.

Police say there were obvious signs of violence, and the death is considered suspicious.

The body was found near the Ray Hayward Memorial Field, at the Charles Long Sports Complex on Route 163.

The body was less than 75 feet away from the road, according to Lieutenant Paul Vance.  Vance says the violence appears to have taken place at the field, and there was no effort to hide the corpse.

The Bozrah Senior Center is next door.

After the body was taken away, the Bozrah Fire Department hosed down an area behind one of the dugouts, near a playground for children.

State Police ask anyone who saw anything between 9 pm and 2 am on Monday night and Tuesday morning to give Troop K a call at (860) 537-7500.

Investigators say they have tentatively identified remains as those of a person from the Norwich or New London areas, but they are withholding that person’s name pending confirmation, and notification of relatives.
