Angry Batter Faces Assault, Endangerment Charges

A Somers man faces criminal charges after a sports-rage incident at a softball game this summer.  Police say when 36-year old Jonathan Feigenbaum popped out during a game at Henry Park in the Rockville section of Vernon last July, he began swearing and slamming his bat to the ground.  He swung the bat and let go,  and the metal bat hit home plate and bounced, striking the catcher for the opposing team in the neck.

The 29-year-old catcher, a South Windsor resident,  was hospitalized about a week,  including a stay in the intensive care unit.  His injuries required surgery and police say he may need additionall surgery,

After Vernon Police investigated, they applied for an arrest warrant.  Friday Feigenbaum appeared in court on charges of assault and reckless endangerment.
