The four-time Pro Bowler suffered a mild concussion in Week 1 against the Bills and missed the Week 2 contest against the Steelers.
After practicing on a limited basis on Wednesday, the former first-round pick has a very good chance to play on Sunday.
“I’m going to rely on the doctors and the trainers,” Ryan told reporters. “Hopefully he’ll play, but we’ll see.”
Needless to say, Ryan was thrilled to hear that the centerpiece of his defense is sniffing a return.
“Hopefully he’ll play, but I guess we’ll see,” Ryan said. “I’m definitely happy that he’s cleared for contact, without question. I’m happy about that.”
As far as Revis is concerned, there’s no question as to whether he’ll be on the field at Sun Life Stadium.
“I’m playing Sunday,” the three-time All-Pro said authoritatively.
The Jets’ defense struggled in Gang Green’s 27-10 loss to Pittsburgh. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completed 24 passes for 275 yards a pair of touchdowns.
Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is unlikely to have a stat line like that on Sunday if Revis is covering Miami’s receivers.
“There’s only one Darrelle Revis,” Ryan said. “It’s hard not to smile when he’s out there.”
Prior to exiting the season opener at MetLife Stadium, Revis recorded five tackles and picked off a pass thrown by Ryan Fitzpatrick.
