150-Pound Bear Killed In Hartford Park

State wildlife officials Wednesday shot and killed a bear in Hartford’s Keney Park.

Officials of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection say the bear had become aggressive and showed no fear of people it encountered. The same bear,  a 150 pound male,  previously had chased a person into a cellar in Barkhamsted.

Wildlife experts say bears are more active this time of the year, because they are looking for food, to put on pounds before winter hibernation.
