HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ An 8-year-old boy struck by a car while riding his bicycle in East Hartford last week has died from his injuries.
Police say Elijah Montalvan suffered brain injuries and died Saturday afternoon at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.

The boy was struck on Plain Drive at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday by a car driven by 52-year-old Paul Gronda of East Hartford. Witnesses said it appeared Elijah darted into the street and Gronda had little time to react.

Gronda was charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to have car insurance. Police say he may face more charges.
Witnesses say several people attacked Gronda after the accident.

Gronda couldn’t be reached Sunday. There’s no phone listing for him and it’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
