Shays Says Money Was Behind His Loss, Says He May Run Again

TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. (AP) _ Former Rep. Christopher Shays says he may again run for public office.

Two weeks after the ex-Connecticut congressman was trounced in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate by former wrestling executive Linda McMahon, Shays told the Hearst Connecticut Media Group  that he may consider another race.

He was interviewed while in Florida as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

Asked if he may run for governor in 2014, Shays said he rules nothing out.

He said he lost the Aug. 14 primary because he didn’t have enough money.

Shays also said he did not initially believe McMahon could win the election against Democratic Rep. Chris Murphy, but now believes she can.
