Two more Copnnecticut residents have tested positive for the West Nile Virus, bringing to four the number of human cases this summer.
Health officials say both were hospitalized with encephalitis after becoming ill, one in late July and one earlier this month. They’re identified only as a resident of Bridgeport and a resident of Stamford, both aged 50 to 59. The Stamford case is this summer’s second from that city. The fourth case was in New Haven.
The two are among 1,118 cases reported nationwide — the most at this point in the summer since West Nile was first identified.
