NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ New Haven is launching a test program that will eliminate any leftover time on parking meters.
The New Haven Registerreports the program will be launched soon in a two-block area near YaleUniversity.
Magnetic sensors are being installed in the parking spaces on Chapel Street between Yorand College streets that will automatically reset the meters once a vehicle leaves the spot.
City officials say the program is designed to determine how many cars are parking in the high-traffic area and how long they stay there.
The city will collect the data for 90 days, and plans to use it to determine if parking rates or times need to be adjusted.
