Two Men Found Fatally Shot In Meriden

Two men are dead after a shooting near downtown Meriden just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.  Police say they received calls to the area of Crown Street and Olive Street,  where they found the men suffering life-threatening injuries.  Both were pronounced dead at a hospital.  Their names have not beeen released.

Police say they’ve found little evidence at the scene.  They were stepping up patrols in the area near downtown where the shootings took place,  and promising a “zero tolerance”  enforcement policy.

The shootings were the fourth and fifth homicides in Meriden this year,  after none at all in 2011.
