The National Weather Service in Taunton, Mass. has determined a tornado did not touch down in Glastonbury Friday afternoon. Alan Dunham, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, says the damage was caused by a microburst, which he described as a strong, downward burst.

Dunham said investigators found “considerable tree damage” along a path that stretched about 2.5 miles from Wasuc Road to Hebron Road. The swath was between a quarter mile and a half mile wide. Winds during the microburst were estimated at 85-100 miles per hour.
