Woman Rescued Safely From Sound

EAST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A 27-year-old woman reported missing at East Haven’s Cosey Beach has been rescued from the water after a two-hour search.

Fire Chief Doug Jackson tells the New Haven Register (http://bit.ly/PGDza8 ) a fire boat found the woman in the water about 10:45 p.m., alive and coherent.

He says she apparently had been clinging to something. Her husband reported her missing just after 8:30 p.m.

Jackson says the woman, whose name was not released, was wearing street clothes, not a bathing suit.

She was taken to a local hospital for observation. Her condition was not available early Thursday.

The Coast Guard and local police dive teams also were involved in the search.
