New Britain Police Department have made an arrest in a kidnap attempt that gained public attention after video from a security camera surfaced,  showing the van which approached the girl. And police say they’re investigating whether he might have made other similar attempts.

The 12-year-old told them she was in the Park Drive-Uncas Road area July 13 when a man in a mini-van approached her.  She told police that when she rebuffed him, he drove off, but made a U-turn back toward her and got out of the vehicle.  She ran home and called police.

Police say she described the driver as an older man with a grey beard and grey hair,  and said  the vehicle was a grey mini-van,  dirty aroiund the bottom,  with a defective door handle.  She said the license number included an “X.”

Police arrested 67-year-old Oscar Diaz of Ward Street, New Britain,  on a charge of attempted kidnapping and one of breach of peace.  Po
