Coach Calhoun Undergoes Surgery For Hip Fracture

University of Connecticut men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun  has undergone surgery at the UConn Health Center Saturday night after suffering a fractured hip. A statement from UConn indicates the Hall of Fame coach fell while bicycling in Madison Saturday afternoon after his bicycle hit a patch of sand.

The accident caused Calhoun to miss his sixth annual Charity Classic All-Star Game at the Mohegan Sun Arena Saturday night, a game that featured many of Calhoun’s former players.

UConn says Calhoun is expected to make a full recovery after the surgery and a short hospital stay.
